The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved regionally-specific bay scallop open season dates for 2018, including a change to the season for Levy, Citrus and Hernando counties that was proposed in December. The Commission also approved a trial bay scallop season in state waters off Pasco County in 2018.

The recreational harvest season for one of Florida’s premier fish, snook, reopens to harvest March 1, 2018 in Florida’s Gulf of Mexico state and adjacent federal waters, including Everglades National Park and Monroe County. Anglers may continue to catch and release snook during the closed season.

Try Lena's Seafood in Silver Springs, just east of Ocala yet? We usually get a Full Fried Scallop Plate, a Half Fried Shrimp and Half Fried Haddock Plate, as well as a Whole-Belly Clam plate! Add some Fried Lobster Bites and Clam Strips … just can’t go wrong. It's worth the splurge for sure, the portions are huge!

The Antique Emporium, just north of Ocala and Reddick at the I75 ramp, is no average antique mall. They have 17,000+ sq ft of packed rooms upon rooms exhibiting a variety of antiques from multiple centuries, eras, and cultures.
One of my all-time favorite Florida recipes, especially if the gator meat is fresh and from a clean local freshwater lake. My mother used to make the best fried gator tail which I'll have to locate that recipe. If you are visiting Florida and have not had a good basket of locally-grown Fried Alligator Tail, you are missing out!
